What this site is

An independent comparison of six boat tours sailing from Honolulu's south shore harbors, plus the practical information a visitor needs before booking one. We are not a tour operator, a travel agency or a seller of travel. We hold no bookings, take no payments and have no staff in Hawaii.

Every booking happens on the operator's own platform under their terms. If something goes wrong with a sailing, the operator and the platform are who you deal with, not us.

Where the tour data comes from

Prices, durations, ratings, review counts, inclusions and cancellation terms are read directly off each operator's own listing and reproduced with the date they were read. Every tour page carries the same fields in the same order so the six boats can be compared line by line, and each one states its own price-last-checked date.

We do not copy operator marketing descriptions. Where an itinerary time or an inclusion is quoted — the 15-minute run to Turtle Canyon, the hour moored at the reef, the two included drinks on the fireworks cruise — it comes from the listing's own itinerary and inclusion blocks.

Where the season and harbor information comes from

Whale-season dates come from the operator's own listing — December through May, matching the humpback migration — and are cross-checked against the listing's stated migration figures. Harbor addresses, slip numbers, check-in windows and parking rates are quoted from the listings' own meeting-point blocks and dated on the page.

Water-temperature and sunset-time ranges are long-term published averages for Honolulu, not a forecast. Ratings on the two platforms are not directly comparable: GetYourGuide figures come from verified bookings on that platform, while Viator states its figures combine Viator and Tripadvisor reviews. Every rating on this site names its source for exactly that reason.

How traveller feedback is used

Traveller feedback reviewed: more than 8,600 reviews across the six boats, plus each platform's own category subscores for guide, transport and value where published.

We quote reviews with the reviewer's name and the month they travelled, exactly as published, and we do not edit them into something more flattering. Critical reviews are quoted alongside positive ones — the crowded-water complaints on the turtle reef in July, the half-the-boat-seasick March whale watch, and the cancellation handled badly in October 2025 all appear on the pages of the tours they describe. We never write testimonials.

What we cannot verify

We do not ride the boats, meet the crews, inspect the vessels or audit safety records. We cannot tell you whether the swell will be comfortable on the afternoon you sail, whether a particular crew member is careful, or whether a listed inclusion appears on the day.

We also cannot see live availability or the price you will be quoted for your date. The figures here are starting prices at the time of the check; the number that matters is the one on the checkout page.

How affiliate links affect this

Links to tours are affiliate links. If you book through one, the platform pays a commission and you pay the same price you would pay going directly. The full arrangement is set out in the affiliate disclosure.

Commission does not decide which boats appear, the order they sit in, or what is said about them. The cheapest sailing on the site earns the least, and the most expensive one carries the site's most critical review quotes.

Corrections

Fares move, slips change and seasons shift. If a number here is out of date, tell us what you found and when you sailed. Corrections get made and the check date on the page is updated with them.
