Why this site exists
Search for a boat tour off Waikiki and the results blur into one another: every listing promises turtles, sunsets and aloha, and the differences that decide whether your evening works are buried in fine print. One turtle boat refunds your money if no turtle shows; the other gives you a re-ride and says plainly, no refunds. One evening cruise welcomes your own drinks; another bans BYOB outright and runs a cash bar. The whale watch does not exist for half the year, and the fireworks cruise sails one night a week.
None of that is secret. It is in the listings' own small print, in the operators' posted answers and in a year of traveller reviews. Putting it side by side, next to the price, is the entire job of this site.
Where the facts come from
Tour prices, durations, ratings, review counts, inclusions and cancellation terms are read off each operator's own listing on the date shown on the page, in US dollars. Every tour page carries the same fields in the same order. Tour listing checked: August 2026.
Whale season dates, harbor details and drinks rules are checked against the operators' own listings and posted answers, and dated where they appear. Traveller feedback reviewed: more than 8,600 reviews across the six boats.
Where an operator admits something inconvenient in its own words — that a cruise may not operate in poor weather, that the boat you sail may differ from the one in the photographs, or that the morning tour's snacks are lighter than the midday spread — we quote it rather than smooth it over. Review quotes carry the reviewer's name and travel month exactly as published, including the critical ones. We do not write testimonials.
What we do not do
We do not ride the boats, meet the crews or audit safety records. Judging whether the swell off Waikiki is comfortable on a given afternoon takes someone standing on the dock, and that is a job for the captain you sail with.
We also do not take your booking. Every Check Availability button sends you to the platform the operator sells on, where the price, the terms and the cancellation window are theirs.
How the site pays for itself
Links to tours on this site are affiliate links. If you book through one, the platform pays us a commission and you pay the same price you would pay going there directly.
That arrangement pays for the research and nothing else. It does not decide which boats appear, what order they sit in, or what we say about them. The cheapest sailing on the homepage earns us the least, and the most expensive one carries this site's most critical review quotes.
Corrections
Prices move, boats change slips and seasons shift. If something here is out of date, write to us and tell us what you found and when you sailed. We would rather fix a number than defend it.
